MINSK, 25 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a meeting of the Belarusian side of the Belarus-India intergovernmental commission on cooperation in economy, trade, manufacturing, science, technology, and culture chaired by Foreign Affairs Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov on 25 April, BelTA has learned.

The meeting reviewed preparations for the 12th session of the intergovernmental commission scheduled for May 2026. The minister emphasized the importance of carefully discussing all issues related to future cooperation with India and ensuring the successful organization of the session. Maxim Ryzhenkov emphasized that it is significant to hear new proposals in order to work them out with the Indian side.

“A month before the session, we need to coordinate our positions and focus not on achievements but on the problematic issues that can still be resolved. We must also refine new ideas to present to the Indian side,” the minister said. He also noted that India is a serious and reliable partner for Belarus.

The meeting highlighted the steady growth of bilateral trade, which reached a record high level in 2025. Work is underway to implement the president’s instructions not only to maintain growth rates but also to bring India to one of the leading positions in Belarus’ trade in goods and services.

Attention was also given to the importance of active cooperation with India in innovative sectors, especially science and pharmaceuticals. Significant potential was noted, and concrete steps were outlined to expand investment cooperation.

All participants emphasized the constructive and practical approach of Indian partners in their work with Belarus. Following the meeting, the Belarusian side defined specific steps to further intensify cooperation with India, including preparations for the 12th session of the intergovernmental commission in Minsk, which will involve a high-level official and business delegation from India.
