Important signals to foreign partners in Belarus president's address to nation, parliament

MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) – The Belarus president's address to the nation and the parliament contained concrete signals to foreign partners. The fact was underlined by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Israel Vladimir Skvortsov in an interview with Eleonora Groisman, Editor-in-Chief of the Israel Person project, BelTA has learned. The text of the interview is now available on the website of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ambassador noted: “It was a policy speech as far as the nature and content are concerned. The head of state outlined kind of a roadmap to guide Belarus' development. He outlined the main avenues of advancement for the near future. It is worth noting that economy was at its heart. The president noted economic growth factors and determined the main tasks in this sphere. Emphasis was placed on innovations, investments, export diversification, the creation of a favorable investment climate, and better management as components of an effective economy.”

The social sphere was only slightly less intensive, stated Vladimir Skvortsov. The president spoke at length about the pension system, healthcare modernization, his vision of the education policy, and optimistic demographic trends.

“Considerable part of the address was dedicated to the preservation of peace and security, topical international challenges, and national priorities in foreign policy. Concrete signals to our foreign partners were voiced,” said the Ambassador. “It was also noted that this year is special since it begins a new five-year stage in the country's development. In Belarus the year 2016 is also important because it is the year of parliamentary elections that will take place in September.”

During the interview Vladimir Skvortsov underlined that the fifth Belarusian People's Congress that will take place in Minsk on 22-23 June will be the next central event in the country's life. The congress will determine the strategy for the country's social and economic development for the next five years. Representatives of Israel usually take part in such forums as well, he added.
