CIS foreign ministers to meet in Moscow on 17 April

MOSCOW, 8 April (BelTA) – Moscow will host a meeting of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council on 17 April, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said at a briefing on 8 April, BelTA has learned.

“The heads of foreign ministries will exchange views on current international and regional issues and discuss priority areas of work within the CIS, including in the context of the CIS’s 35th anniversary being marked this year. Following the meeting, a number of decisions are expected to be adopted to strengthen foreign policy coordination and expand cooperation in law enforcement and cultural and humanitarian areas,” Maria Zakharova said.

According to her, the ministers are also set to consider granting the status of  CIS basic organizations to two Russian educational institutions. They will review the results of the implementation of the plan for multilevel ministerial consultations within the CIS in 2025, as well as the action program to enhance partnership between the foreign ministries of CIS member states.

“Most of the approved documents will be submitted for subsequent endorsement by the CIS heads of state and heads of government,” the spokesperson added.
