Belarus may get observer status in Pan-African Parliament

MINSK, 21 October (BelTA) - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to the Republic of South Africa with concurrent accreditation to Zimbabwe Aleksandr Sidoruk met with President of the Pan-African Parliament Fortune Charumbira on 20 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The ambassador expressed Belarus' interest in comprehensive cooperation with the countries of the African continent and confirmed the readiness to contribute to the resumption of contacts between the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the Pan-African Parliament.

Exchange visits and an observer status for the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus in the Pan-African Parliament were discussed as possible steps to expand cooperation.

The meeting also touched upon the bilateral Belarusian-Zimbabwean agenda and discussed cooperation in the political, trade and economic sectors.
