Belarus, IOM aim to strengthen bilateral cooperation on migration policy
MINSK, 28 March (BelTA) – Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Sekreta met with Arthur Erken, IOM Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, to discuss priority areas of bilateral cooperation, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.
The parties discussed the current state and priorities for strengthening and developing bilateral cooperation. Particular consideration was also given to the issues of combating human trafficking and illegal migration, regulating external labor migration, and ensuring sustainable funding for IOM project activities in Belarus.
Igor Sekreta emphasized the importance of aligning the IOM's work in the country with the needs of the Belarusian state.
The IOM regional director for Europe and Central Asia positively assessed the progress of cooperation and reaffirmed the organization's readiness to assist Minsk in addressing priority issues related to migration management and the fight against illegal migration.
