Belarus’ FM: Escalation in the Middle East destroys cooperation formats built over decades

MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) - The escalation in the Middle East is not only the loss of civilian lives and the destruction of infrastructure, but also the disruption of various cooperation formats that have been formed over decades, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov told Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“In the region itself, everyone understands that this escalation is not only about the loss of civilian lives, not only about the destruction of infrastructure, but also about the disruption of various cooperation formats that have been built over decades. Trade and economic, transport and logistics,” the minister of foreign affairs said.

Speaking about assistance to Belarusian citizens who, figuratively speaking, have found themselves hostage to the current situation in the Middle East, Maxim Ryzhenkov noted that diplomats are helping them return to their homeland and providing consular assistance.

“Diplomats know what to do. We are fully informed about the situation. Dialogue with the foreign ministries of these states is more active than ever. It allows us to understand what is happening in the region and to resolve all the issues we need to address,” the minister emphasized.
