Belarus eyes participation in Bolivarian Alliance agriculture projects
MINSK, 7 May (BelTA) - Belarus is exploring opportunities to take part in agricultural projects of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA-TCP). The issue was discussed during a meeting between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Venezuela Dmitry Derevinsky and Venezuela’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Executive Secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance Rander Ismael Peña Ramirez, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.
The sides discussed prospects of using the alliance’s platform to promote joint initiatives.
“Special attention was paid to the potential participation of Belarusian enterprises and organizations in the Agro ALBA project, which focuses on ensuring food security for the alliance’s member states and developing joint agricultural production. A procedure for interaction was defined to bring the interests of the parties closer together in this field,” the press service said.
The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Peoples’ Trade Treaty is a socialist union of Latin American and Caribbean countries. Its headquarters is located in Caracas.
The Agro ALBA project is a strategic agricultural cooperation mechanism designed to enhance food security and production within the alliance. Member countries pay special attention to the development of livestock farming and agricultural and industrial production.
