Ambassador sees significant potential for Belarus-Iran further cooperation

MINSK, 5 May (BelTA) - Belarus and Iran have a wide range of areas for cooperation, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Belarus Alireza Sanei told journalists ahead of a meeting with Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives Sergei Rachkov, BelTA has learned.

“I can say that all areas of cooperation are a priority for Iran, and that there are many opportunities and significant potential for interaction between our countries. The [Iranian] president’s official visit to Belarus took place in August of last year. After this visit, bilateral relations began to gain momentum. Among the key areas of cooperation, I can highlight the economy. Iran and Belarus are working on major and important economic projects,” the diplomat said.

He noted the importance of cooperation in the parliamentary sphere as well. “For us it is also important to cooperate in the cultural, educational, medical, scientific and technical areas where active interaction and the development of new projects are already underway. In other words, there is a very wide range of directions for cooperation between our countries. We want to strengthen our relations with the Republic of Belarus even further,” Ambassador Alireza Sanei emphasized.

He also expressed gratitude to the president, the government, the heads of various institutions, and the people of Belarus for their support of Iran.
