Former camp prisoner Nina Batova honored in Vitebsk ahead of Victory Day
 At the age of five Nina Batova, a native of Surazh District, was sent to the 5th Regiment concentration camp in Vitebsk, along with her sisters and mother where she stayed until liberation by the Red Army.
At the age of 14, she was forced to start working in order to help support her ailing mother, along with her sisters. Without any formal specialized education, thanks to a distant relative, she got a job at the Banner of Industrialization sewing factory, where she worked for just over 39 years.In the run-up to Victory Day, Nina Batova was visited by the head of the administration of the Pervomaisky District of Vitebsk Evgeny Semenychov. He offered her sincere congratulations wished her to reach her 100th birthday in good health. Schoolchildren prepared a small concert.
