MOSCOW, 27 March (BelTA - TV BRICS) -
Russian President Vladimir Putin has emphasised the need to develop
technological cooperation with BRICS countries. He made this
announcement at the congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and
Entrepreneurs (RSPP), according to the official website of the Kremlin.
The
congress also hosted the first meeting of the National Committee for
Business Cooperation within BRICS, which was established by presidential
decree in February this year. The head of state called on
representatives of domestic business to actively participate in the work
of the new body to prepare concrete proposals for the development of
economic ties within BRICS, as well as in science, innovation, industry
and other sectors.
"We will continue to encourage business
investment in the modernisation of enterprises and production facilities
based on our own technological capabilities. We will particularly
support the implementation of solutions in three key cross-cutting
technologies: artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, and digital
platforms. There is scope for cooperation with foreign countries in this
work, including those from the world’s fastest-growing regions, the
Asia-Pacific region and southern Eurasia. We plan to develop such
cooperation primarily through BRICS", Vladimir Putin said.
At
the meeting of the national committee, participants approved the
composition and working procedures of the new body. In accordance with
the President’s decree, Maksim Oreshkin, Deputy Chief of Staff of the
Presidential Executive Office of the Russian Federation, was appointed
as Chairman of the National Committee; he also serves as Special
Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Trade and
Economic Cooperation with BRICS States and Interaction with the New
Development Bank.
The committee includes representatives of
Russia’s largest businesses. The agenda also covered the development and
promotion of Russian initiatives, as well as Russia’s participation in
the BRICS Business Council.
