Sables step up 2027 Rugby World Cup preparations

HARARE, 15 April (BelTA - ZBC) - Zimbabwe national rugby union team are intensifying preparations for the 2027 Rugby World Cup, with several international assignments lined up.

As part of their build-up, the Sables are set for back-to-back matches against regional rivals, Zambia national rugby union team, aimed at sharpening their competitiveness ahead of the global tournament.

The first leg will be at Harare Sports Club on April 25, before the Sables move to Bulawayo on May 2 for the second leg.

The second leg marks the Sables’ return to Hartsfield, a venue they have not used in eight years.

The matches against Zambia serve as a warm-up for a tour of South Africa, where they will play the Springboks in June before heading to the United States for the Rugby Nations Cup.

The Sables will face off with Tonga, the United States and Canada, with some of the matches set to be played in England.

More than 30 years of World Cup exile ends in Australia, and the Sables are not just preparing, they are awakening.
