‘Snow Moon’ lights up the sky over Belarus

MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) - The February full moon, which is also called the Snow Moon, illuminated the sky over Belarus on the night of 2 February 2026.

Why exactly the Snow Moon? This poetic name comes from the folklore of the indigenous peoples of North America. Traditionally, they gave each full moon a special name reflecting seasonal natural phenomena. The February full moon usually occurs in the month of snowfalls and bitter frosts. In Belarus, February 2026 was very snowy and extremely cold, making the name “Snow Moon” more fitting than ever.
