BISHKEK, 15 July (BelTA – KABAR) - Sary-Chelek is one of the most beautiful and mysterious lakes in Kyrgyzstan. It is nestled in the heart of the Sary-Chelek Biosphere Reserve at about 1,873m above sea level and is rightfully considered a true pearl of the Chatkal Ridge.

Sary-Chelek means ‘yellow bucket’ in Kyrgyz. Many legends are associated with this beautiful name, from the story of a beekeeper who accidentally spilled honey into the water, to legends about the golden foliage of the surrounding trees mirroring in the lake's calm surface.
