Russia’s Kuzbass among top three coal sellers on Belarus’ commodity exchange
MINSK, 27 April (BelTA) – Kemerovo Oblast of Russia has entered the top three largest coal sellers on the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE), the BUCE press service told BelTA.
In January-March 2026, Kemerovo Oblast (Kuzbass) took third place among all Russian regions in terms of coal sales on the BUCE trading platform. During this period, coal-mining enterprises of the region sold almost 19,000 tonnes of coal to Belarus, which was 1.8 times more year-on-year.
This was reported by a representative of the Belarusian exchange during a roundtable discussion for the Kemerovo Oblast business community, organized by the Kuzbass Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Minsk Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The event was held via videoconference.
According to the BUCE specialist, coal continues to enjoy stable demand from Belarusian enterprises in the construction sector, mechanical engineering, the food industry, and transport, which supports the growth of coal sales through the exchange platform. InJanuary-March 2026, Belarusian participants purchased more than 143,000 tonnes of coal from Russian suppliers, exceeding thelast year’s result by 14%. Alongside companies from Kuzbass, active sellers included enterprises from Novosibirsk Oblast, Rostov Oblast, and Khakassia.
As part of further development of exchange trade between Belarus and Kemerovo Oblast, plans include not only increasing coal sales through BUCE but also establishing exports to Kuzbass of Belarusian goods in demand in the region: primarily skimmed milk powder and whey, butter, rennet cheeses, meat, and meat semi-finished products. In addition, mutual supplies of import-substituting products using BUCE’s industrial and consumer goods platform may become a promising area of bilateral cooperation. The first exchange transaction in this category (industrial equipment components) was concluded in 2025.
As of 27 April, BUCE has accredited 20 business entities from Kemerovo Oblast, mainly coal-mining enterprises and their distribution structures.
