MINSK, 5 April (BelTA) – Chukotka has invited Belarus to take part in the development of gold mines, Anton Yaremchuk, Deputy Governor and Head of the Economy and Investment Department of the Chukotka Autonomous Area of Russia, said on the air of the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA reports.
On 30 March Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko held a meeting with the leadership of the Chukotka Autonomous Area. Currently, trade between Belarus and Chukotka is virtually nonexistent, so both sides are aiming to develop bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including mining. Chukotka, for example, is known for its gold mines.
“During the meeting, we displayed and discussed a map of available plots from the undistributed subsoil fund. These are potential sites that Belarusian companies might want to develop. The map was handed over to Aleksandr Grigoryevich, and we remain optimistic about a positive response,” Anton Yaremchuk told journalists following the meeting.
