Eurasian Economic Union drafting agreement on e-commerce

MOSCOW, 10 December (BelTA) - A draft agreement on e-commerce has been coordinated within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Member of the Board (Minister) for Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission Andrey Slepnev told a press conference on 10 December, BelTA has learned.

“We have completed the coordination with the parties on the e-commerce agreement, specifically for mutual e-commerce within the Union. This trade is growing rapidly for us, estimated at $110 billion and covering about 17% of all retail,” Andrey Slepnev said. He also cited expert estimates suggesting that by the early 2030s, 30% of retail trade will be conducted on electronic platforms, and for non-food goods, up to 50%.

“So here, we really need to build transparent channels, because regulations in all countries are currently being actively developed, and we need to ensure they do not diverge. We genuinely need our mutual trade to operate under uniform rules and facilitate communication for our small and medium-sized businesses,” the EEC minister said.

He added that the agreement is planned to be signed in the first half of 2026.
