MINSK, 15 September (BelTA) – In January-August 2020 Belarusian Railways increased the volume of container transportation by 1.3 times in comparison with the same period of last year to 606,000 containers in terms of twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU), the Belarusian Railways press service told BelTA.
The development of export transportation and the promotion of Belarusian products to foreign target markets are the most important strategic directions for Belarusian Railways, the source noted. In January-August container transportation of Belarusian exports to China doubled to reach 14,000 containers in TEU terms.
Belarusian Railways and interested companies are busy creating conditions for new projects and for developing existing projects to deliver Belarusian cargoes to China by container trains. Belarusian pulp, sugar, sawn timber, meat and dairy products have been shipped to China.
Since these projects were launched, over 100 container trains carrying Belarusian products have been dispatched to China.
