Belarus, Russia’s Dagestan explore options for machinery production localization
MOSCOW, 29 April (BelTA) – Production of Belarusian machinery may be localized at industrial facilities in Dagestan, Russia. The press service of the Belarusian Embassy in Russia told BelTA following a meeting between Belarus’ Ambassador to Russia Yuri Seliverstov and Head of Dagestan Sergei Melikov, which took place on the sidelines of the Caucasus Investment Forum in Mineralnye Vody on 29 April.
“We agreed to explore the possibilities of localizing the production of Belarusian machinery at sites in Dagestan, taking into account the region’s needs (viticulture, complex terrain). Sergei Melikov set a task to send a delegation of Dagestani businesses to the Belagro exhibition for detailed negotiations with Belarusian enterprises,” the press service said.
Ambassador Yuri Seliverstov and Sergei Melikov held a substantive discussion on key areas of cooperation between Belarus and Dagestan and reviewed the implementation of agreements reached at various levels, including at the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia. Special attention was given to cooperation in the textile industry and the Dagestani raw material supplies to Belarus.
“As for tourism development, the parties agreed to intensify the exchange of experience between sectoral agencies. They highly praised the contribution of the direct air service to strengthening cooperation. They also noted traditionally close ties in culture and sports and exchanged views on promising projects in the recuperation sector,” the press service added.
