Belarus, Russia discuss oil and gas market, projects in power industry

MOSCOW, 21 February (BelTA) – Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich met with Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexander Novak in Moscow on 20 February, BelTA learned from the press service of the Russian government.

“The parties discussed their efforts to deepen integration in the Union State, cooperation in trade, economic and energy sectors, the progress in the work on the united oil and gas market, and also projects in the power industry and peaceful atom,” the press service informed.

Alexander Novak stated at the meeting that Russia remains the main trading partner of Belarus, while Belarus is Russia's main trading partner in the CIS and its fourth biggest partner in the world. “Belarus' share in Russia's foreign trade is almost 9%. The trade between the two countries is likely to break a new record in 2024. In January-October, the mutual trade grew by 6.5%, compared to the same period of 2023,” the Russian deputy prime minister said.
