Belarus reports 60% progress in first-cut grass harvest

MINSK, 8 June (BelTA) - Belarus has cut grass on 60% of the planned areas, BelTA learned from the press service of the Agriculture and Food Ministry of Belarus.

According to operational data as of 8 June, first cut was completed across an area of 839,000 hectares, or 60% of the plan (which stands at 1,407,000 hectares). Some 82% of cut forage was gathered.

Agricultural organizations harvested 4.30 million tonnes of haylage or 28% of the plan (14.309 million tonnes). Hay has been stocked up in the amount of 36,000 tonnes or 5% of the plan.

Silage harvest progress by region looks as follows: Brest Oblast – 993,000 hectares (33% of planned areas), Vitebsk Oblast – 285,000 hectares (15% of plan), Gomel Oblast – 420,000 hectares (27% of plan), Grodno Oblast – 832,000 hectares (31% of plan), Minsk Oblast – over 1 million hectares (29% of plan), Mogilev Oblast – 485,000 hectares (29% of plan).

Agricultural organizations stocked 177,000 tonnes of silage or 1% of the plan (20.519 million tonnes); 1.189 million tonnes of feed units of grass or 12% of the plan (10.131 million tonnes).

Mineral fertilizers for spring planting have been accumulated in the amount of 907,000 tonnes of active ingredient (97% of the plan).
