Belarus ranks first in exports to Russia’s Ryazan Oblast

MINSK, 16 March (BelTA) - Belarus ranks first by export volume to Russia’s Ryazan Oblast, Governor of the Russian region Pavel Malkov said as he met with Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Sivak on 16 March, BelTA has learned.

Pavel Malkov emphasized that it was important during the meeting with the deputy prime minister to discuss the results of cooperation and future prospects - what else needs to be strengthened, what to focus on. “In many areas, we already have contacts and concrete results. This needs to be developed further, and new directions should be launched. We had a chance to share our views on the sidelines, and new projects are springing up literally as we speak,” the governor said.
According to him, among Ryazan Oblast’s partner countries, Belarus ranks first in exports and third in imports. “In the total volume of the region’s trade, Belarus accounts for one-fifth, despite the fact that we trade with a hundred countries worldwide. Moreover, our trade is growing very actively from year to year,” Pavel Malkov said. “Our trade balance is stable. According to the latest data, we supply 55% of the total trade to our Belarusian partners, while imports from the country account for 45% respectively. It is practically a parity.”

Belarus supplies industrial equipment, transport vehicles, furniture, paper, food products, and more to Ryazan Oblast. The Russian region exports construction materials, plastic products, leather goods, ferrous metal products, measuring equipment, and food items.
