Belarus, Oman aim to develop economic ties in agriculture

MINSK, 9 April (BelTA) - Vladimir Samsonovich, the head of the Directorate for Education, Science and Personnel at the Agriculture and Food Ministry, along with ministry specialists, held talks with a delegation from the National Defense College of the Sultanate of Oman. The discussions focused on deepening bilateral cooperation in agriculture, diversifying exports, developing the scientific and educational base, and establishing sustainable logistics routes, BelTA learned from the ministry's press service.

In 2025, agricultural trade between the two countries was driven by supplies of Belarusian dry milk powder. A landmark event was the first shipment of dry baby food, which paved the way for establishing a foothold in the Gulf market, a region that enforces some of the strictest safety standards in the world.

“Cooperation with Oman is developing dynamically, and the results speak for themselves,” Vladimir Samsonovich noted. “We are ready not only to increase supplies of high-quality dairy products but also to share our educational expertise. Our agricultural universities are already training specialists from various countries, providing practical hands-on experience at leading industry enterprises.”

Belarus is interested in expanding its presence on the Omani market. Beyond dry milk powder, this includes butter, premium segment cheeses, and baby food products. All of these products are made from organic domestic milk and meet high international standards. During the meeting, the possibilities for supplying dry milk formulas for children and adults were also presented.Poultry meat, compound feed, and veterinary drugs were also identified as promising areas for supply. To this end, both parties are ready to step up cooperation between their veterinary services, including organizing audits of Belarusian enterprises by Omani experts. The Omani delegation highly appreciated the potential of Belarusian agricultural science and production infrastructure, noting the importance of exchanging experience in the areas of food security and modern processing technologies. “We value Belarusian expertise in producing high-quality food products and training personnel. We are interested in finding reliable partners and are ready to jointly explore new forms of cooperation, including investment projects,” a representative of the Omani delegation emphasized.

The parties agreed to maintain regular dialogue and work out concrete steps to expand the range of products. Omani partners have been invited to the international exhibition Belagro where they will be able to see the latest achievements of the Belarusian agricultural sector and hold talks with business. Both parties are unanimously focused on ensuring that Belarusian products take a more prominent place on the shelves of Omani stores in the near future.
