Belarus mulls over fertilizer production project for West African markets

MINSK, 4 March (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to import coffee, cocoa, fruit, and nuts, and to work on developing compound fertilizers for West African markets. This was discussed during a meeting between Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov and Arthur Lilas Trimua, Minister Delegate to Togo’s Ministry of Economy and Strategic Monitoring responsible for investment promotion and economic sovereignty, on 2 March, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.
The parties focused on expanding the bilateral legal framework. Belarus proposed accelerating the process of preparing agreements on investment protection and avoiding double taxation. This proposal received full support.
“The parties also discussed cooperation between the agriculture ministries, chambers of commerce and industry, and the use of export credits. The trade agenda includes mutual interests: Belarus is ready to import coffee, cocoa, fruit, and nuts, and to work on creating compound fertilizers for West African markets. Togo is interested in processing technologies, adapting Belarusian automotive equipment, and establishing assembly plants,” the press service noted.
The meeting also addressed preparations for an upcoming visit to Belarus by the president of the Council of Ministers of Togo.
