Belarus expands partnership with Azerbaijan

MINSK, April 7 (BelTA) - Azerbaijan and Belarus have established strategic relations, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Azerbaijan Dmitry Pinevich told journalists, BelTA has learned.

“We know how to trade with each other and enjoy doing so, and we have successful joint projects. The most effective way to promote our goods is to cooperate across various sectors, combining our joint potential to fill the markets of Belarus and Azerbaijan and third countries. This is a successful trend for our industry. This includes mechanical engineering and elevator manufacturing. We have launched cooperation projects in construction and agriculture. The project in pharmaceuticals (in biotechnology broadly speaking) is in the pipeline. We are planning to produce joint pharmaceutical products using the capacities of Azerbaijani pharmaceutical manufacturers. This product will meet all modern requirements,” Dmitry Pinevich said.

Belarus and Azerbaijan are also considering cooperation projects in education, including joint educational programs and university interaction to develop academic science. “Belarus has its strengths, Azerbaijan has its own, we complement each other and strengthen our potential,” the ambassador added.

He emphasized that the task is to develop interaction with all industries and regions of Azerbaijan. “In many regions, there are already joint projects that we can showcase and scale up,” Dmitry Pinevich stressed.

Under a contract signed on 7 April, MAZ will supply 100 vehicle kits of the MAZ 6312C5 model to the Ganja Auto Plant for the needs of Azerbaijan’s Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry. “The goal is to bring mutual trade to $1 billion. We have not yet reached that figure, but we have already reached half a billion. I am confident that the signing of this contract will serve as a further boost to our cooperation and strengthen the fraternal relations between our nations,” Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Belarus Maharram Aliyev added.
