Belarus’ central bank: Middle East situation not disrupting payment flows yet

MINSK, 10 March (BelTA) – The recent developments in the Middle East have so far not impacted the clearing of banking payments, Chairman of the Board of the National Bank Roman Golovchenko told the media following his report to Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on matters concerning the current activities of the National Bank in the context of the country's economic development tasks, BelTA has learned.
The head of the National Bank was asked whether the situation in the Middle East had created any problems for the banking system, particularly with payment processing.

“If you are referring to the events of recent days, they are not affecting and have not affected us so far,” Roman Golovchenko said. “Specifically, the events of recent days have not had an impact on us. But, of course, turbulence in global markets has never worked in favor of development and progress. I can state that with absolute authority.”
