Belarus’ BUCE offers supply chain optimization mechanism to Russia’s Rostov

MINSK, 5 May (BelTA) - The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) has offered Russia’s Rostov commodity producers a mechanism for optimizing supply chains, BelTA learned from the BUCE press service.

Mutual supplies between enterprises of Belarus and Rostov Oblast are planned to be optimized through the expanded use of exchange trading instruments. This will simplify the search for business partners, eliminate unnecessary intermediaries, and open up additional sales and procurement opportunities for both sides. This proposal was made by Deputy Head of Foreign Economic Relations at BUCE German Puzyrny during an online conference titled “Hour with the Russian Trade Representative in the Republic of Belarus” organized for the business community of Rostov Oblast.

The event was attended by the leadership of the Rostov Oblast’s ministries of economic development, agriculture, industry and energy, as well as the heads of 27 enterprises from the real sector of this Russian region.

According to the BUCE representative, a number of production and trade organizations from Rostov Oblast are already using the exchange’s electronic infrastructure quite actively when concluding export and import contracts with Belarusian companies. Nevertheless, the full potential of the exchange platform has not yet been realized.

“Based on last year’s results, exchange trade between Belarus and Rostov Oblast increased by 1.5 times, reaching almost $12 million. Specifically, Belarusian exchange participants sold milk powder and whey, butter, amino acids, meat products, and lumber, while Rostov participants sold coal, coke, and ferrous and non-ferrous metal products. This year, we are seeing a more than threefold increase in coal and coke imports from Rostov Oblast, while Belarusian exports are characterized by an expansion of the product range with two new items - flax fiber and wheat bran. We expect that these trends will continue to strengthen, and we will close 2026 with strong positive growth in exchange transaction volumes,” said German Puzyrny.

As of 5 May 2026, 129 business entities from Rostov Oblast were accredited at BUCE.
