MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) – The desired result came only through painstaking work and hard training, Yulia Kovalevskaya, a bronze medalist in biathlon at the 3rd Winter Youth Olympic Games, said at a ceremony to honor medalists of the 3rd Winter Youth Olympic Games in the National Olympic Committee of Belarus, BelTA has learned.
“My feelings are difficult to describe today: it is amazing when your achievements are appreciated. The desired result came through painstaking work. Hard training paid off and my favorite sport reciprocated,” Yulia Kovalevskaya said. “Today I am experiencing completely different emotions that the ones I had during and after my successful race. Then I was in a working mode. I had to fight every meter of distance not only with other competitors but also with myself. The rifle shooting played the key role. I did well. But now it is all behind me and I have to concentrate on new challenges to make my family, friends and fans happy.”
The ceremony to honor medalists of the 3rd Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne on 9-22 January 2020 was held in the Hall of Olympic Glory at the National Olympic Committee of Belarus on 18 February.
Belarus fielded athletes in biathlon, Alpine skiing, speed skating, cross-country skiing, and ice hockey. Belarus won two medals: Yulia Kovalevskaya picked up bronze in the 10km Individual and Ilya Korzun won gold in the Men's Mixed NOC 3-on-3 event.
