MINSK, 28 May (BelTA) – The 2020 World University Canoe Sprint Championship in Zaslavl has been canceled, BelTA learned from the official website of the International University Sports Federation (FISU).
Competitions were to be held at the Zaslavl Regatta Course from 21 to 23 August 2020. With regard to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the FISU Steering Committee has decided to cancel the event after the discussions with the local organizing committee.
“The COVID-19 situation continues to be very challenging and forces us to be on alert,” wrote FISU Secretary General & CEO Eric Saintrond in a communication to all member federations. “Although we regret to announce these additional cancellations, we believe that we must keep making cautious decisions, as the sanitary crisis is still present.”
The FISU Steering Committee has also canceled the following events: Modern Pentathlon in Warsaw, Poland; Shooting Sport in Pilsen, the Czech Republic; and Mind Sports in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
