MINSK, 15 January (BelTA) - Sergei Vyazovich's crew of Belarus' MAZ-SPORTavto Team completed Stage 7 in 2nd, behind Gerard de Rooy's IVECO Team (the Nethelands), BelTA has learned.
The winners cleared the distance of 323km in 4:47.27. Belarusians were 30:55 behind. Third was Eduard Nikolaev's KAMAZ Master of Russia. Another Belarusian crew led by Alexander Vasilevsky finished 6th (6:04.32).
Following seven stages of the race the overall standings are topped by Russia's Eduard Nikolaev (29:50.35). Second is Dmitry Sotnikov's KAMAZ (32:54 behind). Third goes Gerard de Rooy's IVECO Team (1:15.28). Sergei Vyazovich's crew is 6th, Alexander Vasilevsky's crew is 10th.
Stage 8 running from San Juan de Marcona to Pisco is 360km long.
The 2019 Dakar race is run solely in Peru over a total of 5,000 kilometers. The event will complete on 17 January. More than half of the route runs through sandy roads with huge dunes and other obstacles.
