Virginie Faivre appointed president of Lausanne 2020 organizing committee

MINSK, 11 January (BelTA) - The Executive Committee of the Lausanne 2020 announced that Virginie Faivre has been appointed president of the organizing committee for the 3rd Winter Youth Olympic Games. She took up her duties on 7 January 2019, BelTA learned from the press service of the NOC of Belarus.

Virginie Faivre has had a long career in freestyle skiing. She is a three-time world champion in halfpipe (2009, 2013 and 2015) and three-time Crystal Globe winner in the discipline (2008, 2009, 2013). In addition to the successful sports career, she has actively participated in organizing major international competitions in winter sports.

The new president succeeded IOC Member Patrick Baumann who died suddenly last October in Buenos Aires while attending the 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games.
