MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) – Belarus' representatives, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee George Katulin and Olympic silver-medalist in rhythmic gymnastics Ksenia Sankovich, were elected to the permanent commissions of the Executive Committee of the European Olympic Committees (EOC), BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Committee.
The participants of the meeting of the EOC Executive Committee, which was held as part of the seminar of the European Olympic Committees and the International Olympic Committee in Belgrade, heard out reports on the preparations for the 2nd European Games MINSK 2019 and approved the composition of the EOC permanent commissions. George Katulin joined the Olympic Games Commission. Belarusian athlete, secretary of the Women and Sport Commission at the National Olympic Committee Ksenia Sankovich was elected to the Gender Equality in Sport Commission.
The joint seminar of the EOC and IOC highlighted cooperation with the Association of the National Olympic Committees (ANOC). ANOC Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg presented information on the World Beach Games that will be held under the aegis of ANOC in San Diego on 10-15 October 2019. A report of the organizing committee of the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo was presented at the seminar as well.
Special attention was attached to new approaches to choosing future Olympic Games candidate cities. The focus will be made in the future at lowering costs at the Olympic Games organization, the maximum use of the existing infrastructure, sport and temporary facilities.
EOC Secretary General Raffaele Pagnozzi reported on the signing of the agreement with three marketing and communications agencies (Octagon, Altius Sports и Mitchell Communications) that will be engaged in the promotion and implementation of EOC projects in the international market. A working meeting was held as part of the seminar with representatives of the abovementioned organizations to discuss cooperation during the 2nd European Games MINSK 2019.
