Tournament for Marina Lobach Prizes to gather gymnasts from 10 countries

MINSK, 6 December (BelTA) – Athletes from ten countries will take part in the Rhythmic Gymnastics International Tournament for Marina Lobach Prizes in Minsk on 6-7 December, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Gymnastics Association.

The competitions have been held regularly since 2002 and have taken an important place in the international sport calendar of Belarus.

The Belarusian capital will welcome many outstanding gymnasts from Russia, Ukraine, Italy, Israel, Lithuania, Estonia, Cyprus, Poland, Kazakhstan, and Belarus.

Performing in the Belarusian capital will be winner of the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games, European youth champion Darya Trubnikova of Russia, another Russian representative Lala Kramarenko who also won at the European Junior Gymnastics Championships, one of the most promising junior athletes Khrystyna Pohranychna of Ukraine, and also Israel's Valeria Sotskova and Belarus' Anna Kamenshikova. The Belarusian gymnast won at the Crystal Rose tournament and took silver at the European Junior Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Guadalajara.

The Presidential Sport Club, one of the main organizers of the competitions, has prepared awards and valuable prizes not only for winners and medalists but also for all the participants, coaches, heads of teams and judges of the tournament.

“The competitions will take place at the Rhythmic Gymnastics Center. Our guests from Russia, Italy and other countries are delighted with the conditions in which they will train and perform. The Presidential Sport Club will not leave anyone without a gift. We are sure that the Tournament for Marina Lobach Prizes will be remembered by its participants for a long time and will become a springboard for achieving even better results in the future,” said Assistant Chairman of the Presidential Sport Club Pavel Egorov.

According to the Belarusian Gymnastics Association, 30 years ago Marina Lobach won gold in Seoul to become the first Soviet Olympic champion in rhythmic gymnastics.

Medal events will be held in three age groups. The trophy in all-around event will be Marina Lobach's statuette designed by the Presidential Sport Club.

“In the previous tournament the Belarusian athletes won a total of 20 medals, including 10 gold medals. Yulia Evchik of Belarus received the main trophy from legendary athlete Marina Lobach for the second year in a row. We hope that our athletes will make their fans happy this time as well,” Pavel Egorov said.

The tournament is organized by the Presidential Sport Club, the Belarusian Sport and Tourism Ministry, the National Olympic Center in Rhythmic Gymnastics, the Belarusian Gymnastics Association, the Belarusian Sport and Physical Training Society Dinamo and the Minsk City Hall.
