Three medals for Belarus at Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland

MINSK, 6 June (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes clinched three medals at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Turku, Finland held as part of the IAAF World Challenge Meetings, BelTA informs.

High jumper Maksim Nedosekov placed first with his best attempt of 2.23m. Second was Pavel Seliverstov (2.19m). Third was Naoto Tobe of Japan.

Bronze was clinched by triple jumper Irina Vaskovskaya (13.63m). Violetta Skvortsova placed fourth (13.58m). Tori Franklin of the United States claimed gold with 14.11m.

Pole vaulter Irina Zhuk finished seventh with her attempt of 4.25m.

Hammer thrower Pavel Boreisha placed tenth with his best throw of 71.80m. Poland's Wojciech Nowicki won the event with 79.41m.

Fans will be able to see Belarusian leading athletes in action during an athletics event between the teams of Belarus, Ukraine, Baltic and Balkan countries at the Dinamo Stadium on 22 June. The tournament will be a testing event ahead of the 2nd European Games MINSK 2019.
