Test competitions help get sports facilities ready for European Games

MINSK, 14 May (BelTA) – Test competitions help get sports facilities better prepared for the 2nd European Games, Belarus Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Chairman of the National Organizing Committee of the 2nd European Games Igor Petrishenko said as he visited Dinamo Stadium which is hosting the test athletics competitions on 14 May, BelTA has learned.

Dinamo Stadium will be the main venue of the 2nd European Games and will host the opening and closing ceremonies, and also athletics competitions. On 14 May, the organizing committee assessed the readiness of the infrastructure for the forthcoming multi-sport forum. The vice premier inspected the security stations and emergency response centers at the stadium, and also the accreditation center, rooms for the press, VIP lounges, and other premises.

Igor Petrishenko said that all issues related to the organization of events at the stadium should be addressed as soon as possible. “In terms of emergency issues, prompt decisions are taken by Minsk City Hall (which is responsible for the facility). We are now fine-tuning the appropriate interaction between all services to make it automatic. All must work quickly, efficiently and smoothly to avoid incidents at various levels. But if they do happen, we need to respond swiftly with minimal negative consequences,” he said.

Today's visit to the stadium and assessment of the test events is a routine work to better prepare for the games. “We will review the results again at the meeting of the National Organizing Committee. We have some time left. Now we are testing every facility in real conditions ahead of the 2nd European Games,” the vice premier said.

Minsk will host the 2nd European Games on 21-30 June. Over 4,000 athletes from 50 countries will compete in 200 medal events in 15 sports.
