MINSK, 13 May (BelTA) – Ten Belarusian athletes will take part in the European Aquatics Championships in Budapest, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus.
The Belarusian team will comprise Ilya Shymanovich (50m, 100m, 200m breaststroke), Mikita Tsmyh (50m, 100m, 200m backstroke), Yauhen Tsurkin (100m freestyle, 50m and 100m butterfly), Viktar Staselovich (50m and 100m butterfly), Hryhory Pekarski (100m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 50m and 100m butterfly), Artsiom Machekin (50m and 100m freestyle), Anastasia Koryakovskaya (50m and 100m freestyle), Anastasia Kuleshova (50m and 100m backstroke), Alina Zmushka (50m breaststroke), Anastasiya Shkurdai (100m and 200m freestyle, 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke, 50m and 100m butterfly).
The competitions will kick off on 17 May.
Since 1993 the Belarusian team have won 24 medals, including four gold, at the European swimming championships. The European Aquatics Championships in Budapest were initially scheduled to take place in 2020, but were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
