
MINSK, 1 March (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes have won the sixth medal at the 2nd Winter Children of Asia International Games, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus.
Young speed skaters competed for medals in the 500m and 1,500m events at the Kuzbass Ice Arena in Kemerovo on 1 March. Belarus' Polina Sivets finished second in the 1,500m, clocking 2:13.96, just 0.18 seconds behind the winner. On 2 March the speed skating program will include the 1,000m and 3,000m events.
Polina Sivets' silver has become the third silver medal for Belarus. The team of Belarus have also won three bronze medals. The 2nd Winter Children of Asia International Games will feature 57 medal events in ten sports. The Belarusian team comprises 68 athletes competing in eight sports. Taking part in the games are over 850 athletes from 12 countries.
