MINSK, 11 February (BelTA) - The Snow Sniper Biathlon Tournament wrapped up with mixed relays in three age groups. The final of the tournament was held at the Olympic training center Raubichi on 10 February, BelTA has learned.
Minsk City Team finished first in the younger age group in 27:11.2. Minsk Oblast Team claimed silver in 27:32.7. Grodno Team finished third, 1:46.8 behind the leader.
Minsk City Team was victorious in the older age group clocking 32:25.1. Gomel Oblast Team came in second (48.6 seconds back), and Grodno Oblast Team was third (1:54.7 back).
As BelTA reported earlier, the mixed relay gold went to Minsk City Team in the medium age group (30:37.8). Minsk Oblast Team was 30.6 seconds behind the leader to clinch silver. Gomel Oblast was third (31:26.5).
The young biathletes were awarded by four-time Olympic champion Darya Domracheva who wished the young athletes every success and good luck.
Belarus' Sport and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk hailed the athletes' performance. “The athletes run fast, shoot clean. They are the future,” he said.
The nationwide biathlon competitions for children and teenagers Snow Sniper have been held since 2007.
The event was organized by the Presidential Sport Club, the Sport and Tourism Ministry, Education Ministry, the Belarusian Biathlon Federation, the Minsk City Hall and the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee.
