NUCLEAR POWER IN BELARUS AND WORLDWIDE
MINSK, 5 August (BelTA) — Belarus' world number 119 Aliaksandra Sasnovich has reached the round of Last 16 at the Palermo Ladies Open, BelTA has learned.
Aliaksandra Sasnovich secured a solid win over world number 23 Elise Mertens of Belgium 6-4, 6-1 in one hour 24 minutes.
The Belarusian will next play world number 95 Jasmine Paolini of Italy who saw off Russia's world number 66 Darya Kasatkina 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 in the round of Last 32.
Aliaksandra Sasnovich reached the main draw after defeating Russia's Anastasia Komardina (world number 201), Tereza Martincova of the Czech Republic (133), and Spain's Lara Arruabarrena Vecino (154) in the qualifying.
The Palermo Ladies Open, which is to end on 9 August, is the first official tournament after the COVID-19 break.
