MINSK, 1 July (BelTA) - Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich lost to Romania's Simona Halep (7) in two straight sets 4-6, 5-7 in the Wimbledon opener, BelTA has learned.
Earlier Belarus Aryna Sabalenka (11th on WTA ranking) could not overcome Slovakia Magdalena Rybarikova (139) 2-6, 4-6.
Laster on Victoria Azarenka will take on Aliza Cornet (51). Vera Lapko will play against Chinese Wang Qiang (15) on 2 July.
This season's third Grand Slam will end on 14 July. This year's total prize money at Wimbledon is 38 million pounds.
