MINSK, 6 August (BelTA) — Belarus' world number 119 Aliaksandra Sasnovich has reached the quarterfinals of the Palermo Ladies Open, BelTA has learned.
Aliaksandra Sasnovich secured a solid win over world number 95 Jasmine Paolini of Italy 6-0, 6-2 in one hour 12 minutes.
Before that the Belarusian had defeated world number 23 Elise Mertens of Belgium 6-4, 6-1 in the first round match.
Aliaksandra Sasnovich reached the main draw after defeating Russia's Anastasia Komardina (world number 201), Tereza Martincova of the Czech Republic (133), and Spain's Lara Arruabarrena Vecino (154) in the qualifying.
The Palermo Ladies Open, which is to end on 9 August, is the first official tournament after the COVID-19 break.
