MINSK, 6 March (BelTA) – Vladimir Samsonov of Belarus has reached the round of Last 16 of the 2020 ITTF World Tour Platinum Qatar Open, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian caused the biggest upset in the opening round of the men's singles event by beating China's Lin Gaoyuan in seven games (5-11, 11-8, 11-7, 9-11, 11-5, 6-11, 11-7). Vladimir Samsonov will next face Liam Pitchford of the UK. The Belarusian player is 27th in the world rankings, Liam Pitchford is 22nd.
All the other Belarusian players have already finished their Qatar Open run.
The tournament will be over on 8 March.
