MINSK, 30 November (BelTA) – The match between Belarus' Aryna Sabalenka and Japan's Naomi Osaka in the US Open round of Last 16 placed second among the Top Five Grand Slam Matches of 2018, BelTA learned from the website of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA).
The three-set match for the berth in the US Open 2018 quarterfinal lasted for two hours and ended with the Japanese's victory, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. This season Aryna Sabalenka has made great progress to enter the world elite tennis for the first time in her career. She is currently 13th in the WTA rankings.
The match between Slovakia's Dominika Cibulkova and Germany's Angelique Kerber at the US Open ranked 5th in the Top Five Grand Slam Matches of 2018. Number 4 is the clash between Simona Halep of Romania and Hsieh Su-Wei of China's Taipei at the Wimbledon. The encounter between Serena Williams of the United States and Ashleigh Barty of Australia at the Roland Garros placed 3rd. The best match has not yet been announced.More about Sport
