
MINSK, 23 December (BelTA) - The 2022 World Tennis League is a non-ATP/WTA-affiliated exhibition mixed-gender team tennis tournament is taking place in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, BelTA has learned.
The Falcons team that comprises Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus will face the Kites team. On 23 December Belarus' world number 5 Aryna Sabalenka will take on world number one Iga Swiatek of Poland. In the 2022 WTA Finals in Fort Worth, the United States, Sabalenka defeated Swiatek 6-2, 2-6, 6-1.
In the first match of the tournament in Dubai Aryna Sabalenka lost to Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan (World No.21), part of the Hawks team, 6-0, 1-6, 6-10. Paired with Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria, Sabalenka beat Bianca Andreescu of Canada and India's Rohan Bopanna from Eagles, 2-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-7.
The Kites team is leading with two wins. Eagles and Hawks have one victory each. Falcons go with two defeats.
The tournament in Dubai will be over on 24 December.
