Sabalenka out of Cincinnati

MINSK, 16 August (BelTA) – Belarus' world number nine Aryna Sabalenka lost in the third round of the 2019 edition of the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati on 15 August, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian was overpowered by Greece's world number 33 Maria Sakkari 7:6 (7:4), 4:6, 4:6.

Earlier Aryna Sabalenka had got a straight-set win over Croatia's world number 21 Petra Martic, 6-1, 6-4 and secured a confident win over China's world number 39 Zheng Saisai 6-4, 6-3.

Belarus' world number 40 Victoria Azarenka lost to Croatia's world number 26 Donna Vekic 2-6, 5-7 in the second round of the tournament, and Belarus' world number 47 Aliaksandra Sasnovich lost to world number one Naomi Osaka of Japan 6-7 (3-7), 6-2, 2-6 in the same round.
