MINSK, 24 January (BelTA) – Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus and Belgium's Elise Mertens secured a second-round win in the 2020 Australian Open women's doubles event, defeating Arina Rodionova and Jaimee Fourlis of Australia 6-2, 7-5 in Melbourne, BelTA has learned.
Earlier, Aryna Sabalenka and Elise Mertens beat U.S.-Czech tandem of Catherine Bellis and Marketa Vondrousova 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Belarus' Aliaksandra Sasnovich and Viktoria Kuzmova of Slovakia won the first round in the women's doubles event, defeating the Australian duo of Alexandra Bozovic and Amber Marshall in three sets 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 on 22 January. In the round of Last 32 the Belarusian-Slovak tandem will play Kazakhstan's Zarina Diyas and Elena Rybakina.
