Sabalenka into Cincinnati round two

MINSK, 13 August (BelTA) – Belarus' world number nine Aryna Sabalenka has moved into the second round of the 2019 Western & Southern Open with a straight-set win over Croatia's world number 21 Petra Martic, 6-1, 6-4, BelTA has learned.

The match lasted for one hour and 20 minutes. In the round of Last 32 the Belarusian will play either Slovakia's world number 49 Viktoria Kuzmova or China's world number 39 Zheng Saisai.

Belarus' world number 47 Aliaksandra Sasnovich defeated Australia's world number 99 Astra Sharma 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 to reach the second round of the 2019 Western & Southern Open. The Belarusian will next face world number one Naomi Osaka of Japan.

Belarus' Victoria Azarenka, WTA World No.40, will take on Switzerland's world number 12 Belinda Bencic tonight.

In the women's doubles opener, Belarus' Lidziya Marozava and Slovenia's Katarina Srebotnik beat the Australian-U.S. tandem of Monique Adamczak and Kaitlyn Christian 6-2, 7-5.

The competitions in Cincinnati will run through 18 August.
