Promotion of Belarus' sports initiatives in focus of NOC activities

MINSK, 22 December (BelTA) – The promotion of Belarusian initiatives in the development of the international sports movement was one of the key priorities of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus in 2020, BelTA learned from the NOC press service.

This year, the National Olympic Committee has worked to reduce the level of subjectivity of referees' decisions, increase the number of Belarusian representatives in international sports organizations, and depoliticize sport in general. In addition, the NOC aims to win support for Belarusian initiatives from the international sports community.

Belarus' NOC cooperates with national sports federations and keeps them posted on the information that is necessary for preparation for the Summer Olympics in Tokyo (due in July-August 2021) and the Winter Olympics in Beijing (in February 2022). The committee is keeping track of berths secured by Belarusian athletes and their approval by international sports federations. Belarus' NOC has established close ties with the organizing committees of the Summer Olympics in Tokyo and the Winter Olympics Beijing, which helps promptly address issues concerning Belarus' participation in the upcoming Olympic Games.

In order to prepare well for the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) that will be held in Vuokatti, Finland in December 2021, the NOC cooperates with national winter sports federations.

In 2020, the NOC implemented several projects with the support of Olympic Solidarity and actively promoted the Olympic values in association with various educational institutions affiliated with the Belarusian Education Ministry. The NOC executive committee also adopted an action plan for 2021, the main activities of which include the Summer Olympics in Tokyo and the 30th anniversary of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus.
