MINSK, 27 February (BelTA) – Doping scandals affect not only Belarus' image, Head of Belarus' National Anti-Doping Agency Denis Muzhzhukhin said as he took part in the international anti-doping seminar on 27 February, BelTA has learned.
“They also lead to losses of public funds spent on athletes' training. If there is at least one case of an athlete's disqualification because of doping, we should bring this issue to light. Until we get raw statistics, it is important to hold such seminars,” Denis Muzhzhukhin noted.
Denis Muzhzhukhin also spoke about doping testing of Belarusian athletes ahead of the 2020 Summer Olympics. “We will follow recommendations of international anti-doping agencies to prove that our athletes are clean and have nothing to be accused of. The testing shows that the Belarusian team is doing well ,” he added.
Participants of the international seminar are discussing innovative solutions and best practices in anti-doping education, regulations and policies worldwide, and other doping-related issues. The event has been organized by the Belarusian Sport and Tourism Ministry, the National Olympic Committee, and the National Anti-Doping Agency.
