MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) – The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has offered Belarus and Russia to take part in the Asian Games, BelTA learned from the organization's website.
The OCA believes in the unifying power of sport and that all athletes, regardless of their nationality or the passport they hold, should be able to compete in sports competitions. “The OCA has offered to give eligible Russian and Belarusian athletes the opportunity to take part in competitions in Asia, including the Asian Games,” the organization's statement says.
Earlier, the Olympic Council of Asia called to facilitate the admission of the Belarusian and Russian athletes to the tournaments in the region. The organization noted that Belarusians and Russians would be able to take part in local competitions, respecting the existing IOC sanctions.
