Norway tops 2018 Winter Olympics medal count, Belarus 15th

PYEONGCHANG, 26 February (BelTA) – Marit Bjorgen's gold in the cross-country skiing placed Norway on top of the 2018 Winter Olympics medal table, BelTA has learned.

Norway won a total of 39 (14 gold, 14 silver and 11 bronze) medals. Second was Germany with 31 (14, 10, 7) medals. Canada placed third with 29 (11, 8, 10) medals.

Russia placed 13th with 17 (2, 6, 9) medals. Belarus, with two gold and one silver medals, ranked 15th. Anna Guskova clinched her first Olympic champion title in the Ladies Aerials. The biathlon team of Nadezhda Skardino, Irina Krivko, Dinara Alimbekava and Darya Domracheva won the Women's Relay. Darya Domracheva also took silver in the Women's Mass Start. Now, Darya Domracheva's Olympic medal count is four golds (three in Sochi in 2014 and one in PyeongChang in 2018), one silver in PyeongChang in 2018 and one bronze in Vancouver in 2010.

Representatives of 30 teams from 92 countries graced the podium at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Games. The 2018 Olympics featured 102 medal events.

The next Winter Games will take place in Beijing, China in 2022.
